Natural Therapies Invigorate Desire for Fitness, Restore Health
Originally from the Northeast, Peter* and Nancy* lived and worked in New York before relocating to Vero Beach with their family. Both have stressful careers, and working out is a key component of their stress-management strategy.
Recently, however, the couple ran into some obstacles with their workouts.
“I’ve always liked going to the gym, but about two years ago, I suddenly lost the motivation to go,” Nancy admits. “I kept going anyway, but I wasn’t seeing the same results and wound up gaining five pounds. I was also feeling tired and lethargic, and I wasn’t sleeping well.”
Likewise, gym workouts have long been a part of Peter’s weekly routine, but he also suddenly lost the desire to go.
“It became a chore to go to the gym, and I wasn’t getting the results I was used to getting, which was frustrating,” Peter says. “My outlook changed. I wasn’t excited about new ideas. Everything from my thinking to my physical functioning was in a rut. I didn’t feel like me.”
Living in Vero Beach, Peter and Nancy knew Mel Richardson, MD, a local lifestyle optimization physician. Dr. Richardson offers an array of treatments, and after visiting with Peter and Nancy, he proposed using two of those modalities to help them feel better.
Natural Options: Bioidentical Hormones and Peptide Therapy Vero Beach
“Based on the results of some lab tests we ran, I suggested treating them with bioidentical hormones and peptide therapy,” Dr. Richardson reports. Bioidentical hormones are more like the body’s natural hormones than synthetic hormones, which were commonly used by practitioners in the past.
By being more like natural hormones, bioidentical hormones produce better functional results and a more positive response than synthetic hormones.
“Peptides are short-chain amino acids, which are small proteins,” Dr. Richardson explains. “Peptide therapy supplements the body’s own peptides and provides a boost to the immunity and an overall sense of well-being without side effects.
“Peptides are geared toward various symptoms and conditions. Certain peptides help with skin, hair, sleep, fat loss, muscle gain and general health. Others focus on autoimmune issues such as arthritis. And peptide therapy is a more natural option than synthetic medications.”

Better Workouts
The combination of therapies worked wonders for Nancy and Peter. Peter says that two weeks after starting treatment he began to feel like his old self again and was getting better results from his workouts. Nancy needed a little longer.
“For me it was probably about six or eight weeks,” Nancy says. “But once the treatments kicked in, I was feeling good and sleeping better and seeing better results from my workouts as well.”
“Nancy and I are very happy with our results,” Peter concludes. “It’s not an overstatement to say Dr. Richardson’s treatment has been a life-changer for us.”
